Job Summary
Our client, a long-established and financially stable organization operating within a national distribution organization, is seeking an IT Manager to support critical systems and enable future growth. This role is central to maintaining the reliability of core operational platforms while laying the groundwork for modernization and scalability. The IT Manager will take a hands-on approach, working closely with business stakeholders to ensure technology effectively supports inventory, purchasing, and financial operations. This position offers high visibility, real accountability, and direct impact on business outcomes.
The Role:

Own and manage a mission-critical IBM i (AS/400) environment, ensuring system stability, performance, and data integrity

Lead and maintain EDI integrations with external partners, supporting transactions such as purchasing, invoicing, pricing, and acknowledgements

Act as the primary internal IT liaison across operations, finance, purchasing, and external technology vendors

Strengthen system documentation, controls, security, and disaster recovery planning

Support ERP-related initiatives tied to inventory management, automation, and operational reporting

Evaluate, prioritize, and implement system enhancements while minimizing disruption to day-to-day business operations

Ensure accuracy and consistency of data across inventory, purchasing, accounts receivable/payable, and rebate or pricing programs

Contribute to longer-term system modernization and integration planning

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement that enhance reliability, efficiency, and scalability
The Ideal Candidate:

5+ years of hands-on experience supporting IBM i (AS/400) environments

Direct, practical experience with EDI integrations and transaction workflows

Background in distribution, wholesale, or supply-chain-driven organizations

Strong understanding of how IT enables inventory control, purchasing, and financial processes

Proven ability to translate business requirements into practical, reliable technical solutions

Comfortable working in a lean environment with a high degree of ownership and accountability

Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on system reliability, accuracy, and continuous improvement

Experience supporting ERP systems or system integration initiatives is considered an asset

Exposure to reporting or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI or similar platforms) is an advantage
