Our client, an established Canadian manufacturer in the food sector, is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead their quality systems, food safety programs, and technical services. This role is central to ensuring products meet regulatory, customer, and internal standards while driving continuous improvement across operations. The QA Manager oversees quality personnel, supports production teams, and ensures compliance with industry certifications and site-level processes. This is a highly collaborative leadership role focused on elevating quality performance and supporting operational excellence.
The Role:
- Lead the Quality Control team, including QA Technicians and quality specialists, ensuring strong performance and adherence to standards.
- Oversee the Quality Management System, food safety programs, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Partner closely with Production and Plant leadership to ensure robust testing, inspections, and documentation across all shifts.
- Manage non-conformance investigations, root-cause analysis, and customer complaint resolution.
- Maintain raw material quality oversight and approve manufacturing specifications.
- Implement audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including GFSI, GMP, HACCP, and related industry certifications.
- Deliver quality and food-safety training for employees and support broader technical development.
- Oversee document control including test methods, specifications, and regulatory records.
- Monitor KPIs and quality trends to proactively identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process optimization and waste-reduction initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Certificate or diploma in Food Safety, Quality Assurance Management, HACCP, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in quality assurance, ideally within food manufacturing, or another regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of GFSI programs, HACCP principles, GMP requirements, and audit management.
- Experience leading teams and developing staff in a fast-paced production environment.
- Skilled in problem-solving, change management, and navigating shifting priorities with confidence.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production, engineering, and leadership teams.
