Our client is an established and growing Toronto-based alternative mortgage lender.

About the role:
The Finance Manager will serve as the financial backbone of a growing, multi-entity financial services organization. Reporting directly to the principals and working closely with a Fractional CFO, this role will own full financial operations extending beyond typical month end close. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Canadian Corporate Tax and research for Government Grants and Subsidies

  • Month-end processes including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and consolidations
  • Fund accounting and deferred revenue / complex revenue recognition
  • KPI reporting, variance, revenue and margin analysis and commentary
  • Portfolio yield reporting
  • Manage a small team and oversee AP, AR and Payroll
  • Cash flow forecasts, Budgeting and forecasting, Profitability analysis
  • Manage bank positions and covenants and working capital management
  • External, internal and operational audit assurance, preparation and risk management
  • Automate processes and create efficiencies and cost savings in current processes

Requirements:

  • CPA designation (completed or in progress)
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in financial services with a minimum of 4 years management or supervisory experience
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks is preferred and solid Excel skills are essential
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional English communication skills and a customer centric attitude
  • This role requires deep experience in high-volume, transaction-heavy financial services environments
