Our client is a global leader in the building materials and construction space with a successful portfolio of multiple entities, spanning multiple countries.

Role Overview
Based at the North American HQ, this newly created role will be responsible for high volume transactions and assimilating a new acquisition into the company's large portfolio.  This is currently heavy day-to-day accounting operations, month end close and reporting and assisting with documentation of SOP's. Responsibilities will include but to be limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage monthly and year-end close processes across assigned entities
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations and support consolidation processes
  • Provide day-to-day mentorship, review, and oversight to other junior accounting team members
  • Review non-PO invoices to ensure proper coding, approvals, and compliance
  • Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations and cash clearing accounts
  • Strengthen and monitor internal controls across accounting processes
  • Track and resolve audit queries in collaboration with the Controller
  • Oversee preparation and timely submission of statutory filings and remittances
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, federal and provincial regulatory requirements, and corporate policies
  • Assist with future system integrations and change management initiatives
  • Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes by preparing historical analysis and supporting schedules

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or near completion.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong month-end close and multi-entity reporting experience
  • Ability and passion to delve into details, identify root cause of issues and propose and implement a solution to improve processes
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, or project-based industries preferred
  • ERP experience required (Sage and Dynamics 365 preferred; consolidation experience a plus)
