About the Role
Our client is hiring an Accounts Payable Clerk to join their growing residential and commercial construction company. This role is best suited for someone with strong AP experience in a project-based construction environment, with a solid understanding of job costing and high-volume invoice processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Process vendor, subcontractor, and employee expense invoices accurately and on time
- Match invoices to purchase orders and resolve discrepancies
- Code invoices to GL accounts, cost codes, and job numbers
- Prepare cheque/EFT payment runs
- Reconcile vendor statements and respond to supplier inquiries
- Support month-end close, accruals, and AP reconciliations
- Assist with GST/PST filings and audit requests
- Work closely with project managers and operations to ensure accurate project cost tracking
Qualifications
- 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience
- Project-based accounting / construction industry experience required
- Understanding of job costing, cost codes, and subcontractor invoicing
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Sage, Jonas, QuickBooks, Viewpoint, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
Preferred Assets
- Experience working with subcontractors, progress draws, and construction billing cycles
- Knowledge of lien legislation / holdback requirements
- Experience in a multi-project or multi-entity environment
