THE COMPANY
We are an architecture firm in Alberta seeking an Architect or Project Manager to support our project and leadership teams on an upcoming project. This role is ideal for someone with an Architect or Project Management background and who understands the early stages of managing large, complex architectural projects and has experience with project management - someone who excels in coordinating information, people, and deliverables particularly in front end stages.
You will play a key role in supporting and managing the design phases of projects, not doing the design itself but ensuring documentation, schedules, and consultant coordination are well managed and aligned with project goals. Essentially, a strong design understanding and project management skills and experience are needed for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Principal in charge and Project Managers with coordination of front end stages, including pre-design, schematic design, and design development phases, assisting with documentation, scheduling, team deliverables, client instructions and liaising with various stakeholder
Support the preparation, tracking, and coordination of architectural deliverables
Coordinate with internal team members and external consultants
Attend meetings both virtually and online in place of the Design Lead where necessary, to obtain information and make notes on the project development, changes and updates to the schedules
Assist with project schedules, meeting coordination, meeting minutes and documentation management
Support proposal, permit, and submission documentation as required
Maintain organized project records and assist with quality control processes
Help ensure projects follow established architectural project workflows and standards
Make occasional visits to Edmonton and other locations (bi-weekly appox.)
WHAT'S REQUIRED
Be physically based in Alberta and available to work approximately 14-20 hours per week. There is the potential for more permanent, full time work in the future
Previous experience working within an architecture, engineering, development or design firm is essential, with experience working with the Canadian building codes. Preferably in the role of a Project Manager or as an Architect involved in Design and leading projects
Solid understanding of architectural project processes and phases
Experience working with large, complex projects, preferably public sector buildings
Experience supporting or producing or involvement in front-end design deliverables for Architecture projects
Educational background in Architecture, Project Management or a related field. Registration as an Architect or PMP designation preferred
Excellent coordination, organization, and communication skills
Comfortable working with specifications and consultant documentation
Proficiency with common architectural software and documentation tools is an asset
Available to make site visits / attend meetings in Edmonton on occasion
