Location: Thunder Bay, ON
Salary: $55000-$85000
About the Role
Our client, a well established General Contractor, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health & Safety Coordinator to join their team in Thunder Bay. This role is ideal for a safety professional with experience working for a COR-certified organization and a strong understanding of construction site safety requirements. Their projects include large scale commercial and institutional projects in the Thunder Bay area.
You will play a key role in ensuring all projects comply with applicable health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all construction sites comply with federal, provincial, and local health and safety regulations
- Implement, maintain, and continuously improve health and safety policies and procedures
- Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing training initiatives
- Coordinate and manage incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions
- Maintain COR certification standards and assist with audits and compliance requirements
- Manage and administer 3rd party prequalification platforms (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta, etc.)
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with all safety standards and documentation requirements
- Support project teams with safety planning and risk mitigation strategies
- Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and reporting
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction industry
- Experience working with a COR-certified General Contractor is required
- Strong knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation and construction regulations
- Experience with 3rd party prequalification systems (ISNetworld, Avetta, or similar)
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field (preferred)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NCSO, CRSP, or working towards designation) are an asset
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
