About the Company

Our client is a well-established, e-commerce privately held Canadian consumer electronics company in existence for 60 + years with several products within the electronics segment — They operate fully on-site within their branch in Ontario and are experiencing an exciting phase of rapid international growth, expanding into new markets across Europe.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Controller will lead all accounting and finance operations and play a key strategic role as the company scales internationally. This is a high-visibility position with real influence which will help shape what the finance function looks like over the next three years and beyond.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and want to roll up your sleeves across a diverse range of projects, this is the role for you.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and mentor a team in accounting with cross-functions.
  • Financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end/year-end close
  • Manage cash flow, AP/AR, payroll oversight, and treasury functions
  • Support international expansion — tax compliance, reconciliations, and regulatory research across multiple countries
  • Work with external partners (e.g., global accounting firms) to ensure compliance in new markets
  • Lead company-wide risk mitigation — financial, operational, and cross-departmental
  • Drive cost control and process improvement initiatives
  • Partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership on strategic decisions, budgets, and growth planning
  • Evaluate and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures

    What You Bring

  • Canadian CPA designation completed — required, MUST HAVE
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience
  • Experience in a product-based or consumer goods environment with inventory — not purely public accounting or service industry
  • ERP system experience — NetSuite strongly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills: VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, IF statements
  • Canadian tax knowledge; US sales tax or international tax exposure is a strong asset
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence across departments
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or Finance

    Why This Role

  • Direct access and influence — report to the CEO and be part of key business decisions
  • Broad experience — inventory, international markets, e-commerce, vendor management all in one role
  • Shape the future — help build the finance function from the ground up as the company grows
  • Real learning — exposure to multi-country compliance, expansion projects, and cross-functional leadership
