About the Role

The Financial Controller will provide hands-on leadership across the organization’s corporate and project accounting functions and serve as a key financial partner to executive leadership. This role is ideal for a strong people leader with deep construction accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of 5+ accounting professionals, overseeing both corporate and project accounting functions
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities and construction projects
  • Ensure compliance with lender, bonding, CMHC, tax, and statutory reporting requirements
  • Lead ERP, payroll, and financial systems implementations and integrations (Procore, Sage ERP, ADP)
  • Prepare and review monthly cash flow forecasts and present results in regular finance meetings
  • Oversee corporate tax filings, GST returns, payroll processing, and working papers
  • Review and manage project accounting deliverables, including cost-at-completion reports, loan draws, and project control sheets
  • Manage AP and AR processes, including progress billings, payment approvals, reconciliations, and intercompany balances
  • Proactively identify financial and project-related risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Ensure strong internal controls, policies, and procedures are in place and continuously improved
  • Support executive leadership with financial analysis, tax planning, and special projects

About You

  • CPA designation with strong technical accounting and financial leadership experience
  • Background in construction, development, or project-based environments
  • Proven experience leading teams and partnering with senior leadership
  • Strong systems knowledge and experience implementing accounting/ERP tools
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and solutions-focused communicator
