TalentSphere is working with the Principal of a well established mid-sized architecture practice with multiple offices seeking an accomplished General Manager - Director of Architecture. This individual would be mentored by the Principal; an ideal role for a seasoned architectural professional with strong operational management skills and some business development experience. Someone aiming to become a future partner with ownership stakes in the firm. Due to the seniority of this role, potential candidates will be asked to sign a mutual NDA before disclosing any privileged details including the client’s name.

WHAT THEY SEEK

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of leadership experience in a well-established architectural firm with projects across Canada. As a General Manager - Director of Architecture you have strong leadership skills overseeing teams and projects through KPIs and value engineering. You are accustomed to mentoring teams through scheduling, billable hours, overseeing budgets and times from A-Z. Are comfortable leading teams of architects, technologists, and account managers. You have a track record of delivering non-residential projects on time and on budget with quality standards. You know how to manage risk and maintain strong client partnerships.

The candidate will be required to travel 90 minutes outside Toronto proper twice a week.  

KEY ATTRIBUTES

  • 15+ years of architectural experience including 10+ of leadership skills in a fast past environment working with well-known clients on mid to large sized commercial and retail projects
  • Strong sense of KPIs and industry standards; managing project deliverables, contracts, budgets and satisfying clients
  • Ability to identify and manage scope changes, negotiating solutions that align with client expectations and project objectives
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Proven track record fostering long-term client relationships through proactive communication and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, strategic planning, and client leadership
  • 10+ years of experience working with Canadian building codes and by laws
  • Professional registration with as fully licensed architect is desirable; PMP or MBA designation a big plus
  • An entrepreneurial mindset; a senior leader at another architectural firm looking for real ownership and career growth
