Our client, an established and growing food manufacturing organization, is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead equipment reliability and plant maintenance within a high-volume production facility. Operating in a fast-paced, perishable goods environment, the organization prioritizes operational efficiency, food safety, and continuous improvement. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime, strengthening preventative maintenance systems, and supporting safe, efficient production across multiple shifts. The Maintenance Manager plays a key role in protecting product quality while improving overall plant performance.
The Role
Lead all maintenance and reliability functions across production and facility operations, including preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
Develop and implement structured maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
Oversee troubleshooting and root cause analysis of mechanical and electrical failures, implementing sustainable corrective actions
Manage maintenance of processing, packaging, material handling, and refrigeration systems in a multi-shift environment
Collaborate closely with operations, sanitation, quality, and safety teams to support production flow and regulatory compliance
Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as downtime, response time, and equipment effectiveness
Manage departmental budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationships
Support capital improvement initiatives, equipment upgrades, and automation projects
Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians and contractors while fostering a culture of accountability and safety
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and facility requirements
Participate in long-term facility planning and infrastructure improvements
The Ideal Candidate
7+ years of progressive maintenance leadership experience within fast paced manufacturing, consumer goods, or similarly regulated production environments
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and refrigeration systems
Experience supporting multi-shift or high-uptime operations
Demonstrated success improving equipment reliability and reducing unplanned downtime
Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, or other regulated production standards
Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, systems-oriented approach
Experience managing maintenance budgets and external service providers
Familiarity with CMMS platforms and data-driven maintenance tracking
Post-secondary education in engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related technical field; relevant certifications are considered an asset
