Assistant Project Manager

Job Overview

Assistant Project Manager / Senior Project Coordinator – High-Rise Residential

Location: Toronto, ON
Industry: High-Rise Residential Development / Construction
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $100,000–$120,000

The Opportunity

Our client, an established high-rise residential developer/builder in Toronto, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager / Senior Project Coordinator to join their project team.

This position is well suited to someone with a strong technical and architectural background who has transitioned, or is looking to transition, into the owner/developer side of construction.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-rise residential projects through detailed coordination of drawings, consultants, construction documentation, tendering, schedules, and project administration.

This is not a traditional development management position. The focus is primarily on the technical and construction coordination aspects of the project rather than feasibility analysis, municipal approvals, or broader development underwriting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager and senior project team throughout the construction process

  • Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and consultant drawings

  • Review construction drawings and identify coordination issues, discrepancies, and required revisions

  • Prepare, track, and coordinate site instructions, RFIs, shop drawings, consultant responses, and other project documentation

  • Work closely with architects, consultants, contractors, trades, and internal stakeholders

  • Assist with tendering, bid packages, tender documentation, scope reviews, and trade procurement

  • Maintain and monitor construction timelines, tender schedules, drawing schedules, and other project milestones

  • Track outstanding consultant and contractor deliverables and follow up as required

  • Review drawing revisions and ensure relevant information is communicated to the project team

  • Utilize AutoCAD and other drawing software to review drawings and make minor adjustments or markups where required

  • Assist with consultant and construction coordination meetings

  • Prepare meeting minutes, action lists, reports, and project correspondence

  • Support change management and maintain accurate project records

  • Coordinate with site personnel to ensure construction information and drawings are current

  • Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day project administration and execution

Qualifications

  • Approximately 4–7+ years of relevant experience in architecture, construction, project coordination, or project management

  • Experience working on high-rise residential, multi-residential, or other complex multi-storey projects is strongly preferred

  • Architectural, engineering, construction management, or related technical education

  • Previous experience with an architectural practice, consultant, developer, construction manager, or general contractor would be considered

  • Strong understanding of architectural and construction drawings

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required

  • Experience coordinating consultants and construction documentation

  • Familiarity with site instructions, RFIs, shop drawings, tender documentation, and construction schedules

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple outstanding items and deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Detail-oriented with a technically focused approach to project delivery

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate may currently be working as a Senior Project Coordinator, Assistant Project Manager, Architectural Technologist, Intern Architect, or Project Architect/Coordinator and is interested in working directly for a residential developer/builder.

They should be technically strong and comfortable working with drawings, consultants, tenders, construction schedules, and project documentation while reporting into a more senior Project Manager.

This role offers an opportunity to gain broader exposure to the owner/developer side of high-rise residential construction while continuing to build project management experience.
